l'urchine de mer

group show with brooke penalooza and becka
here are two of my installations from the show

untitled cardboard/noise installation
- digital prints with various 2" speakers sandwiched behind them
- a super glitchy audio cd that burned incorrectly (guns and roses and eric clapton tracks), unaltered, playing off of a boombox buried under layers of cardboard, muffled (my friend fo kindly gave me this cd)
- a tape cassette player with circuitry exposed, acting as a hands-on noise generator, this works without any tape playing

untitled fish/tone/buffer installation
this was inspired after seeing pauline oliveros perform ramon sender's "tropical fish opera", where the fish's location within the tank provided the live score for the musicians.
my installation included...
- a fishtank and goldfish
- a live camera pointed at the tank
- a computer running custom software (max/msp jitter) analyzed this video signal (via finding the most outer boundaries of the fish, by tracking their color) and created resulting audio tones. the software also acted as a video buffer, creating streaks or trails when the fish moved, this was projected above the fish tank. this all happened in real-time so the viewer could interact with it.
